Saturday Crazy Weather

It's been really windy this weekend. I think they said that there are supposed to gusts up to 50 mph! So, I woke up to a trash can rolling down our street in the middle of the night, but quickly fell asleep. Then the alarm went off in what felt like 5 minutes, it was already 6:30 am. Time to get up so we can get our special parking space at KCC.

Bear didn't want to get out of bed and I had second thoughts, too. It was windy and raining. But, I thought if we used to run around in 30 degree rain in WA, we can do it in 70 degree, warm rain here. I packed up some extra clothes, our favorite green shopping bags (they fold really small and they have a wider square bottom than average, the best part was we got them FREE from the Sony Open which we went to for FREE, as well!), and two bottles of water. I finally got Bear to get up by turning on the bedroom light which was right next to his head because of our loft bed. Haha, he said, "good one," and he slowly climbed down.

Once we got out, it was raining harder. We got our spot under the trees, jumped out, and started our run. It was like running in the shower. We got totally drenched in 5 minutes. Ollie looked like he jumped into the ocean, and we picked up our pace because the wind made it cold. Luckily we were running with the rain coming down on our backs. We were not looking forward to the other side of Diamond Head with the rain in our faces. However, the rain went away!

We made it all the way around and were almost dry, except for the sweat. I peeled off the wet stuff and got into my nice, dry extra clothes. Then we headed to the Open Market. For some reason, there seemed to be way more tourists this time. But, that is awesome because our local vendors are getting good business in rough times. We bought a bunch of veggies, salsa from the salsa guy (he gave us $1 off, really friendly, funny guy, ask for the toxic salsa-the heat creeps up on you), and we tried the fried combo basket from Fried Green Tomatoes. It has fried onions, green tomatoes, and zucchini. The batter was thick and crunchy. It reminded me of the fried asparagus from the Beaverton Farmer's Market. Delish!

Here's Bear next to the entrance.
