From Aliens to Babies

Yesterday was our latest ultrasound appointment. It's comforting to see them look more and more like real babies. I think that everyone is beautiful in their own way, but I am secretly hoping that our kids are cute and healthy looking.

For the past month I've been feeling some contractions. It's been happening irregularly, at times when I am stressed or my activity level and heart rate significantly increases. Jerm wanted to go surfing after work one day and I packed my swim suit, too. I thought I would walk laps in the water at the beach while he was out. I read somewhere that walking in a pool or at the beach was good because you would avoid over heating and the resistance of the water would give a little more challenge. It was really nice because it took off the weight of the babies. I walked up and down "Concessions" at Ala Moana beach park for 45 minutes. I really had no idea how much heavier they were until I slowly got out and as I walked onto the beach it felt like I was adding on a sack of rice with each step. Even walking in the water I had a few contractions.

I think so far I have gained 13 pounds. However, the measurements say the boy is 1 lb. and the girl is 14 oz. So, the rest is me. Yay... I really can't complain, though. I've had a really nice pregnancy so far and family and friends have gone out of their way to make it easy. They constantly search for sugar free products for me and hardly let me carry things.

The big mystery recently is my arm. I have this sizable divit or indentation in my left shoulder area. All our PT and medical field friends think it's so bizarre. Even my OB says it's a medical mystery. I have no pain or significant muscle weakness. It looks like I have a mini shark bite with no scarring. Next on my list is to make an appointment with an ortho doc.
