2nd Blood Test

Today I did my second blood test. The beta levels were somewhere in the thousands. I forgot what it was exactly. So, our nurse said that things are going well. I still have the same activity restrictions, though. I cheated a little yesterday and went out on my paddle board. I wasn't swimming, I was just floating above the water. =) Our nurse said that was fine as long as I wasn't immersed. How strange...I wonder why that matters?

So far I have been experiencing many symptoms:
  • I feel sick every once in awhile, but not enough to throw up. Yay! I do have my puke pouch, it has plastic bags and handy wipes in it. I thought I needed it this morning on my way to a meeting. But, I was fine.
  • My foot and ribs ache. This is a really weird one that I haven't read about. I walked around Ala Moana with a friend last week. The next few days my foot was so sore and I was hobbling around. Jerm finally had to by some tape and wrap it up for more support. I guess the ligaments in my foot are lax due to the surge in hormones and my foot muscles are weak. Jerm has prescribed toe-towel scrunches and calf stretches for me. My ribs also hurt when I take deep breaths.
  • Shortness of breath. Every once in a great while I get these moments where I am breathing hard. I am already out of shape because of the activity restrictions, but I feel like such a sloth because I just run out of breath sometimes.
  • Tired. In the afternoons I feel like I just have to take a nap. Luckily we have Netflix, which is like having On Demand for cable. So, I go online to find movies or shows to "watch instantly" and then I fall asleep. I don't know what I am going to do when school starts!
  • Cravings. My staples right now are pineapples and green apples. I don't want chips, sweets, chocolates, or anything else I used to love.
Pregnancy is weird. Wednesday will be 6 weeks!

Sounds like everything is going as well as it could be right now. Yay!

Get used to being short of breath. It doesn't get any better. First it's the hormonal changes, then the baby just physically starts crowding your lungs. Not to mention all the air goes to them first anyway :) But hopefully you can become a little more active later. ...the tiredness gets better, but it still comes and goes for me.

And pregnancy is definitely weird. But from what I hear... it's all worth it! ;-)
