We started off the day by waking up late because it's my vacation and I finally got to sleep in with no commitments planned or anything. Yay! So, we decided to go to the beach and then meet up with mom later for lunch.
We went to Kahala beach and it was high tide, so there was hardly any room for me to sit on the beach while Jerm and Ollie swam, which was fine because I didn't mind wading around in the water, although it was really rocky. I was also afraid of stepping on reef or rocks with eels. (I caught an eel out there before when we were night fishing.) It was great, it wasn't crowded at all.
Then three people came with their 2 dogs, about Ollie size- 70 pounds. One went swimming with the guy and another stayed on shore with 2 ladies. Ollie was curious and wanted to say "Hi" so I let him and they said their dogs were friendly, too. But, I noticed that they were watching one of their dogs closely. Well, when Ollie came over to the ladies, the shore dog got upset and started to snap at Ollie, so I got Ollie away and then the dog escalated to "red zone" (for you Caesar Milan fans) and ran to attack Ollie. It was so fast and Ollie didn't yelp or anything so I thought he was fine. The owner of the dog pulled it away quickly and pushed it to the sand and stradled it telling it "no!" and made it submit (just like a Dog Whisperer show!) It eventually calmed down and had to spend the remainder of the time tied to a tree. The owner came back over and apologized profusely. I told her it was fine and Ollie was all right.

Oh, during this whole incident, Jerm was off swimming, I couldn't even see him. But, when he came back I told him Ollie got beat up, jokingly. Then Jerm noticed what looked like a scratch on Ollie's shoulder. This whole time Ollie was swimming and was calm. But, when I looked closly at the scratch it turned out to be a puncture/tear in his skin exposing a little muscle. It was around the size of a pea for the puncture and the tear was less than an inch! So, we ended up taking him to the vet, who he will be seeing again on Tuesday for his surgery (see previous blog). We got in and the vet said stitches weren't necessary and his muscle was fine, just a skin wound. So he's on antibiotics. The weird thing is that since he has been on antibiotics the growth on his head has gone down! I think we will still opt for removal, though. (A good pill taking aid is Pill Pockets from the makers of Greenies. At first Ollie wasn't sure, he licked or sucked all the pill pocket off the pill and spit the pill out, but now he can't wait for his snack that he just gobbles the whole thing. You can also split it in half to make it go longer and it molds around the pill nicely.)
That is not the end! Then we took Ollie home and went to go get lunch at W & M!!! Yum! We called in our order and Jerm hopped out to pick it up while I waited in the City Mill parking lot because it was crowded as usual. I accidentally pulled into a stall that was short and was waiting for traffic to clear to reverse out and find a bigger stall. Unfortunately because we had a sofa in the back of the truck (we were going to drop off at Salvation Army to donate because Goodwill no longer takes furniture), I didn't see directly behind, from my angled position, in a non parking spot someone else was waiting for a parking. So, I tapped him! My first accident ever where it was my fault! =( I felt so bad! However, the guy looked at his truck and said there was no damage (I was going about 1 mile an our because it's so crazy crowded there), I offered my info, but he said to forget about it, he was super nice. I lost my appetite for about 20 minutes and didn't want to drive, but came around, ate my Royal burger with fries and drove the rest of the day.
It was nuts, I'm glad it's over!
