Overpopulation

I am now living in Hawai'i! Friday was filled with tasks.

I got in at 11:45, picked up my 70 & 74 lb. bags ($100 charge) and met dad at the curb. Then we went straight to downtown's Bank of Hawaii to open an account for direct deposite for work. They were very helpful and friendly there, I got a $10 Jamba Juice card and if dad wanted to switch banks, they said they could get him the golf umbrella he was eyeing.

Next, we went to Kamehameha school's HR at Kawaiaha'o Plaza and I filled out my paperwork. They then sent us 3 blocks back into downtown so I could get fingerprinted. I did it at some private investigators office, the lady was really nice, my fingerprints are still hard to get. In WA it took 5 tries, with ink and digital. The lady had an easier time here, but a couple of my fingers on my left hand have a lot of cross-hatching so they were hard to obtain digitally. I can still be a cat-burglar if this teaching thing doesn't work out.

I went back to Kawaiaha'o to get my employee handbook and then we went to eat lunch at Neiman Marcus' Mariposa. I was bummed that they didn't have popovers anymore. I think Maile warned me about that earlier =(. My Summer Tomato Salad was a good choice after weeks of BBQs with hot dogs and hamburgers. The service was also excellent!

We ended the night at Aunty Sharon's because my cousins from California were visiting. I was up from 5 am to 1 am WA time that day or 2 am to 11 pm Hawaii time.

Saturday was filled with shopping! But, it was necessity and organization shopping. Mom and I started at Longs. It was a mess and they were renovating, but the crowd was easy and light.

Then we went to Costco Hawai'i Kai. It was packed, but not too bad. I got monthly needed girl essentials, detergent, our favorite Dove Cool Moisture Cucumber soap bars, and snacks. I was also looking for a bunk/loft bed that we saw at Costco Tacoma, but they didn't have it. I was extremely disappointed that they didn't have my all time favorite Kirkland Organic Raisin Bran. I know it sounds like I am totally old, but I love it. The flakes are so thick and crunch even when it sits in milk for awhile! I asked Jerm to send me some and he just laughed at me.

Next, we went to Home Depot and I got some paint and painting supplies. I decided to paint our room with Green Tea by Behr (love the name). Green is supposed to be calming, and it looks good with a dark wood floor. I started to get tired. It seemed like the population suddenly started to get larger and there were more people.

After, we went to Walmart. Walmart was the worst!!! I really miss Target and WA bed and bath stores. It seems like everyone wanted to shop at the same place at the same time. I forgot about back to school and it was just a sea of people. I started to get really tired and agitated there. I called Jerm to ask him about a Mirco Suede comforter set and snapped at him. Sorry, Bear. There were people running around and kids unsupervised running into and between carts. It was sucking the life out of me. I got a few things (a couple shoe racks and a birthday card for my cousin's party on Sunday) and gave up, I told mom I wanted out.

We got home and I took an hour nap. After unpacking a little more and cleaning, I decided I wanted the closet organizer I saw at Walmart. Online it said that it closed at 7 pm on Sat and it was 6:15. Mom and I hoped in the car and went back (if was less crowded) and got the organizer and shower caddy and the lady said it didn't close it was 24 hours! Oh, well, that's fine, I spent the rest of the night organizing in the comfort of my own room.
